Students are given opportunities to learn various skills through direct instruction in the computer lab. Students are instructed in word processing, graphic organizing, spreadsheet, database, and multi-media presentation programs. For the 2014-15 school year we will be primarily exploring Google Drive apps, Docs, Sheets and Slides. Students will also be using Microsofts Office 2011 suite of programs and Inspiration.

Students are also exposed programming using MIT's Scratch programming language. Flex Block/enrichment classes will be learning basic programming with the creation of projects focusing on sequences, loops and events, conditionals and debugging. At the conclusion of each class will share their interactive games or stories with their classmates and online.

Grade 5 and 6 students will be also be exploring introductory programming skills with the CODE online resources .

The focus of learning is to provide students the skills necessary to be successful with their middle school and high school course work. Class curriculum is aligned to International Society for Technology in Education ISTE standards.
